It was incredibly exciting news when we learned that Bay Ridge’s unparalleled purveyors of pastry, Robicelli’s, would have an outpost at the LIC Flea, which opened this weekend for a second season. I stopped by their table this morning and learned a bit more exciting news.

Allison Robicelli herself was working the table, and said she wants Queens residents to treat the LIC Flea table like an annex to their eponymous Bay Ridge brick and mortar shop, which opened in late November. Queens residents can pre-order Robicelli’s cakes, pies, cookies and etc – you can find their amazing menu here – during the week and then pick them up on Saturday and Sunday at the LIC Flea.

Robicelli’s has committed to be at the LIC Flea all year, through December, and will be launching all new menu items from time to time at the Flea. Their ultimate goal is to build a base for opening a second brick and mortar location somewhere in Queens! While they haven’t settled on a location – as of now Long Island City, Astoria, and Forest Hills are all on the table.

So get to the LIC Flea and show Robicelli’s some love. Let’s give them a huge Queens welcome. You’ll be rewarded sweetly for it.

And on that note, now for the sweets!

Jersey Cookie - an homage to my home state

Jersey Cookie – an homage to my home state

I tried the Jersey Cookie ($2), an homage to Allison’s friendship with the owner of The Bent Spoon in Princeton, New Jersey who introduced her to the bounty of my home state. The sweet corn cookie is dusted with freeze dried blueberry powder creating a cookie that tastes just like Springtime itself.

I also devoured a Beer Bar an absolutely brilliant confection with a chocolate chip cookie base, vanilla porter caramel, pretzels, a bittersweet dark chocolate ganache and sea salt. This was easily one of the best sweets I’ve had in New York City or elsewhere. It’s a steal at $4, especially because it is so decadent you’ll want to share it with a friend.

Robicelli’s will have a rotating inventory at the LIC Flea, so you’ll just have to go back again and again. I know I will.
